At the Gates of Web3

At the Gates of Web3

What is better than talking about Web3 in the first post of a new website (blog?)? Nothing I must say. The flood is upon us and so many and so much is coming at us all at once and we are not ready. The massive connectivity that was talked about in the early days of internet or at least according to the AMC's TV show Halt and Catch Fire.

We are not accustomed to change in the Internet. Or are we? It does not matter... Change happen so much and over and over but we never ever get a chance to adapt to any of it. Our world playback speed is set on maximum! We do not stand a chance if the progress of our world and species move like this because we will not have a chance to grow with it.

The original idea of the internet is/was is to be built in a decentralized fashion but that never came to fruition for many reasons. But the idea of decentralization kept coming back in many shapes and forms. The latest and current attempt is cryptocurrencies and DLTs (distributed ledger technologies) such as Blockchain or what is part of the Web3 wave. This promise of decentralization always lived or at least the flicker of it in the minds of Internet. The Internet managed to present to our species the gift of decentralization, not once but several times but everytime it was in a different wrapping for a different generation in the hope it would stick this time.

But this time, with cryptocurrencies and NFTs (Non-fungible Tokens), we see that the Internet has opened up the opportunities of true decentralization to everyone. The latest attempt to further democratize the Internet is now here. I would say that cryptocurrencies and NFTs has brought larger and diverse groups into the technology and development communities of the Internet at rate never seen before. There are lots of content creators who keeps questioning the policies of big tech social platforms and they want more out of their creative work. The decentralized Internetland is fertile and all are welcome to reap their harvest.
